About the Art:
Kenny “Picasso” Ravizza concerns my longtime friend who passed away on July 8, 2018. He was a pioneer and legend in the field of sports psychology, and was an even better person. We met in the 1980s as members of the California Angels organization. Kenny loved all of the paintings and suggested we do a Picasso, whose image is depicted in the painting near the right border. Jason has captured Kenny’s face, both frontal and as a profile, an idea taken from a Picasso. The painting is designed as a baseball card. The background represents the beaches of Southern California that Kenny loved so much. The image of his latest book, “Heads Up Baseball 2.0,” is included, along with the word simplexity, meaning simple and complex being brought together. He loved that thought. The notes indicate ideas we discussed for the past three decades. Control the controllables is the cornerstone of his preaching. Then there’s breathe deep. We always talked about the breath. Attitude is a decision is a concept I got from Kenny in the late 80s. All of it is central to my managing style.
